Description
Vintage hair tassel from Turkmenistan, also called a "joghir". This is traditionally worn in a girl's braids to create beautiful adornment; typically worn in pairs. The tassel consists of a top with two extending pieces. This tassel has embossed and pointy dangles, several chaprose (flower beads), two bells at the bottom. Fairly heavy - nearly 7 ounces. The metal is a brown-gray/silver color with verdigris, patina and oxidation. Makes a nice jingling sound with movement - used to not only announce the wearer's presence, but also to ward off the evil eye.Different monitors and phone apps show colors differently. I do my best to accurately document color using both photos and written descriptions. If you have any questions, please send me a message.
